Lockheed Martin is not a telecommunications service provider as such, and therefore not part of the American NSA’s Prism programme, but in the light of revelations it might felt important to reconsider their involvement in the UK census of 2011, and the present government’s assurances on the matter.
Lockheed Martin – which does 80% of its work for the US defence department – assists more than two dozen American government agencies and is involved in surveillance and data processing for the CIA and FBI. http://is.gd/9bFuCQ
The Prism programme is:
…collection of communications pursuant to Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
The (US) Government may only use Section 702 to acquire foreign intelligence information, which is specifically, and narrowly, defined in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. http://is.gd/uxHZ9P
